Ghost quilt pattern - beginner friendly

It's spooky season... which means it's time for a beginner-friendly Halloween quilt pattern! This quilt measures 59" x 45.5".

If you look at how this quilt is laid out, you'll see just how easy and beginner-friendly this quilt is. It's made up almost entirely of single patch squares and HST's. I've listed out each of the fabrics and quantities I've used below, but feel free to change it up and use the fabrics that bring you joy.

Fabric Used & Yardage

All of the fabrics I used were purchased at Joann's (use your coupons!). I used the Sew Classics line for the white fabric, but any white or light-colored fabric can be used, even scrap. Just make sure it has enough contrast to pop against the darker colors.

Cut List - Single Patch Square

You'll need 5-inch squares for each of these fabrics.

Cut List - HST’s

You'll need 12 HST's, and I used the two-at-a-time method for these. Check out my guide on that method here!

Cut List - Ghost Face

This is the trickiest part of the quilt, but don't worry. Start by cutting out your pieces, then start with the 3 pieces in the first row (top of the eyes), then move to the 2 pieces on the second row. Sew these two rows together to form the face.

Cut List - Binding

I used the pumpkin fabric (Fabric "A") for my binding. You'll need (6) 2-inch by WOF (width of fabric) strips to bind this quilt.

Start laying out and sewing your blocks using this image as your guide. You can piece this using your preferred method. I broke this out into 4x4 blocks for the majority of the quilt, then pieced the blocks together to form the larger quilt.

Grid with Square Names

If it's easier to use the labeled squares or you're using different fabrics, use the below grid to determine the layout for your quilt (fabrics labeled as A, B, C, D, & E)
